We are a non-profit shelter located in Imperial Missouri. We are 5 miles south of the intersection of HWYs 141 and 55 near St. Louis.
Our adoption fees are $75 for 1 ferret and $125 for 2. All ferrets are vaccinated against canine distemper.
Our goal is to find our ferrets forever homes where they will be happy and loved the rest of their lives. They form deep attachments to their family and it is very hard on them to be given up and moved around. If you rent make sure you have the landlord's permission first. If you are adopting for a child think first. Are you willing to take over the care if he is neglectful, busy, works, goes to college? Are you willing to nurse your ferret through illnesses when he needs medicine and soft food several times a day? Please take the time to think this over before making up your mind.
Ferrets have individual personalities. Some are very active, some sleep more than others, some are climbers, some like to play with toys, some don't like other animals and some love everyone, some are quiet and some are just plain silly. One of the benefits of getting a ferret from a shelter is that you will can pick the ones that suit your lifestyle.
Your first step towards adopting is to call us at 314-368-1987 for your phone interview. We will talk about your home life and family, how much time you have to spend with your ferret, what you will need, expenses, vets, ferret-proofing, etc. Ferrets have specific needs to be healthy and happy. This is your chance to find out what to expect as a ferret parent so you can make an informed decision so please ask any questions. When your house is ready and you have all your supplies call us to make your appointment to adopt your ferret. If you have a ferret he may want to come along and pick out his friend. Remember to bring your carrier with a blankie for the ride home.
